Blade (1998)
Country: US
Technical: DeLuxe/scope 120m
Director: Stephen Norrington
Cast: Wesley Snipes, Stephen Dorff, Kris Kristofferson, N'Bushe Wright, Udo Kier, Traci Lords
Synopsis:
In the world of the future vampires survive, like a criminal underworld, by virtue of their discretion; until, that is, a half-breed by the name of Frost challenges the status quo and poses a particularly knotty challenge to vampire killer par excellence, Blade, himself infected since birth but living under antidote.
Review:
Comic book nonsense, handled with gusto and some sense of style, though these are dubious attributes when allied to so much violence and gore. There are Snipes and Kristofferson, who endow it with all the gravity of purpose they can muster, to raise it above the cynical frivolity it at times courts.
