Breathless (1983)
Country: US
Technical: col 101m
Director: James McBride
Cast: Richard Gere, Valerie Kaprisky
Synopsis:
A young hothead steals a car and goes to get his girl, but he hangs around too long for her and his past catches up with him.
Review:
You will find varied opinions of this intelligent picture, but Gere's performance is so crazy, and moments like the last scene so unreal, it deserves credit for sheer gumption: unbelievable, but completely right. I feel its stature will grow with the years, once we stop thinking of it as a pretentious remake of Godard's sui generis, on the face of it unremakeable, debut.
