Dead Man's Shoes (2004)
Country: GB
Technical: col 90m
Director: Shane Meadows
Cast: Paddy Considine, Gary Stretch, Stuart Wolfenden
Synopsis:
A former soldier returns to wreak vengeance on the gang that victimized and traumatized his mentally disabled brother.
Review:
Rather more Get Carter than Once upon a Time in the West, perhaps, but still showing the inspiration of the latter film, this is a tough viewing experience but features a strong central performance and very competent support. The north of England has rarely looked so uncanny and the final revelation casts a chill that the concluding crane shot over the derelict building does little to dispel.
