Dog Day Afternoon (1975)
Country: US
Technical: col 130m
Director: Sidney Lumet
Cast: Al Pacino, John Casale, Charles Durning
Synopsis:
Two no-hopers hold up a Brooklyn bank and find themselves surrounded by police and the media.
Review:
The film rather gets sidetracked when it is revealed that Sonny (Pacino) wants the money for his lover's sex-change operation, and Sal's (Casale) interest is never explained. Otherwise this is a fine example of Lumet's freewheeling, documentary shooting style, shot on the cheap but with some observant moments and an incredibly sustained central performance.
