Elephant Boy (1937)
Country: GB
Technical: bw 91m
Director: Robert Flaherty, Zoltan Korda
Cast: Sabu, Walter Hudd, W.E. Holloway
Synopsis:
Kipling's fanciful tale of the Indian boy who claims to know the congregating place of the elephant hordes.
Review:
Pretty stodgy stuff now, but Sabu in his début is at his endearing best and out-acting everyone bar the elephants. Flaherty was a thoughtful choice, with his docu-naturalist background, but he and Korda's grip on narrative is alas on the halting side.
