Les fugitifs (1986)
Country: FR
Technical: col 89m
Director: Francis Veber
Cast: Gérard Depardieu, Pierre Richard, Anaïs Bret
Synopsis:
Two men witness a crime and flee together with the young girl whose life is also threatened.
Review:
Its director and stars having developed a sort of house style (cf. Les compères), the laughs in this reasonably engaging comedy are mingled with the street realism and violence of the policier genre, together with a touch of unforced sentiment centred around the cute little 'gamine'. In fact it is all pretty low-key, with Richard in particular a charmless second fiddle to Depardieu's competent comic performance. Jean Carmet and Michel Blanc contribute cameos as a screwy vet and blotto doctor respectively, which helps.
