The Fastest Gun Alive (1956)
Country: US
Technical: bw 89m
Director: Russell Rouse
Cast: Glenn Ford, Broderick Crawford, Jeanne Crain
Synopsis:
A storekeeper's past catches up with him when three bank robbers stop over in town and recognize him as the fastest gun in the West.
Review:
Classically structured western drama whose variation on the 'Gunfighter eternally having to prove himself' theme is the gap between being able to shoot fastest and straightest, and being able to kill a man. It's only a pity someone wanted a happy ending, for Ford's survival, while morally consistent and true to western mythology, lacks something in poetic justice.
