Henry V (1989)

£0.00

Country: GB
Technical: col 137m
Director: Kenneth Branagh
Cast: Kenneth Branagh, Derek Jacobi, Simon Shepherd, Brian Blessed, Emma Thompson

Synopsis:

Young King Henry sails to France with a small force to face down the might of Charles VI and establish his claim to the French throne.

Review:

Branagh's rain and mud soaked 'remake' was, like Olivier's, his first film as director and his first Shakespeare film (and exactly the same length). It is also a triumph, of acting and of visual realization, with the actor's now familiar emphasis on word-painting and graphic illustration as means to make the text accessible to modern audiences.
