Iron Sky (2012)
Country: FIN/GER/AUS
Technical: col/2.35:1 93m
Director: Timo Vuorensola
Cast: Julia Dietze, Christopher Kirby, Götz Otto, Udo Kier, Peta Sergeant
Synopsis:
NASA astronauts looking for Helium3, a potential source of almost limitless energy, stumble across a vast Nazi colony and weapons facility on the dark side of the Moon. A new blitzkrieg is imminent, but the woman president of the free world could just prove their match in ruthlessness.
Review:
A rather heavy-handed space spoof, equal parts Mel Brooks, Fritz Lang and Tim Burton. The art direction and special effects are never less than impressive - we even get a brief 'Manhattan under attack' moment - but, alas, the script barely raises a smile: Nazis just ain't funny any more.
