A Mighty Wind (2003)

Country: US
Technical: col 91m
Director: Christopher Guest
Cast: Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, Bob Balaban, Catherine O'Hara, Eugene Levy

Synopsis:

The death of a folk music impresario occasions a memorial concert, reuniting some of his most celebrated acts.

Review:

Mockumentary from the seasoned pens of Levy and Guest, following the now familiar format of interview footage, followed by a performance of some kind. The trouble is, that when all the faces are known impostors from the off, the overall effect is reduced. Moreover, this one has a great deal of talk, with very few jokes early on, unless one is 'in on the scene'. Happily, the music itself is (wisely) anything but shambolic, and as cleverly written as it is performed, leading to a pleasing finish.
