Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)

£0.00

Country: AUS/US
Technical: col/2.35:1 120m
Director: George Miller
Cast: Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, Hugh Keays-Byrne

Synopsis:

Max is captured by Immortan's men and used as a precious source of haemoglobin, until he finds himself an unwilling passenger in the pursuit of a female warlord who has made off with a tanker-load of milk, water, gasoline and the chief's personal harem, bound for the 'Green Place' of her youth.

Review:

Realizing that the best bits of 2 and 3 were the climactic high speed chases involving a large vehicle beset by smaller ones, Miller presents us with one long protracted pursuit across the desert, through canyons and over mud flats. There is precious little time for character or moments of intimacy, but he does provide us with splashes of sentiment to offset the splashes of haemoglobin. CGI permits the mapping of bodies flying from exploding vehicles, and one wonders, is the stuntman now redundant? A white knuckle ride, alright, but the resilience of our action hero (and heroine) becomes frankly silly.
