Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005)
Country: US
Technical: col/2.39:1 120m
Director: Doug Liman
Cast: Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Vince Vaughn
Synopsis:
A pair of contract killers meet on the job, cover for each other and get married, but never realize they share the same line of work. For five (or six) years. Their decision to try marriage counselling coincides with their respective agencies sending them on the same hit.
Review:
With a plot more full of holes than their suburban home after a night of trying to kill each other, this comedy thriller maintains a tone of nonchalant destruction and mayhem for an absurdly protracted two hours. But then someone evidently thought they were onto a winner simply by virtue of casting two hot actors doing crazy stunts (they also got the hots for each other, which didn't hurt). By the time we get to the Butch and Sundance finale, where the movie has one last chance at redemption if only it followed through with the implications of its own homage, we are wondering when we last saw anything so lacking in substance that cost over $100 million.
