She's Gotta Have it (1986)
Country: US
Technical: bw/col 84m
Director: Spike Lee
Cast: Tracy Camilla Jones, Tommy Redmon Hicks, Spike Lee
Synopsis:
A modern black woman is torn between two men, one butch, one cerebral.
Review:
Spike Lee's first 'joint' is a marvellously fresh and inventive movie, attractively shot in black and white and brimming with all the attitude of its heroine Lola. It convincingly puts not only a black perspective but a black woman's perspective on a time-honoured dilemma, though in retrospect that could be seen to a piece of 'right-on' calculation on the part of its creator.
