Sister My Sister (1994)
Country: GB
Technical: col 104m
Director: Nancy Meckler
Cast: Joely Richardson, Jodhi May, Julie Walters
Synopsis:
A provincial Frenchwoman living with her daughter takes into service a pair of sisters as maids, and their oppressive self-sufficiency slowly turns pathological.
Review:
Reminiscent of Jean Genet's Les Bonnes, this somewhat uncinematic and oddly cast treatment hung around for nearly a year before getting any kind of release. Richardson and May at least invest themselves fully in the perversity of their roles.
