Sleepless in Seattle (1993)
Country: US
Technical: col 105m
Director: Nora Ephron
Cast: Tom Hanks, Meg Ryan, Ross Malinger
Synopsis:
A grieving widower relocates to Seattle, from where his son's machinations ultimately find him pouring his heart out on a radio talk show. Thousands of miles away, an engaged woman hears his story and becomes enamoured of him.
Review:
Referencing An Affair to Remember in its finale atop the Empire State Building, this was one of those treacly romances Hollywood turns out from time to time in order to reassure people that there is just the person for them out there, and distance is no object. Ephron follows on from her success with When Harry Met Sally with such assurance that few minded there weren't that many laughs. A kind of follow-up, You've Got Mail, appeared in 1998, with the same team.
