Transporter 2 (2005)
Country: FR/US
Technical: col/2.35:1 87m
Director: Louis Leterrier
Cast: Jason Statham, Alessandro Gassman, Amber Valletta, Kate Nauta, Matthew Modine, Jason Flemyng
Synopsis:
Frank, the intrepid, ex-special forces operative turned driver of The Transporter, finds himself in Miami, taking care of the infant of an anti-drug tsar and his neglected wife. His employers, however, have cause to need his special skills far more than they suspected, when their child is injected with a deadly virus by terrorists for hire.
Review:
Producer Luc Besson turns an already far-fetched thriller format into a downright silly variation on the Die Hard/Taken action formula. The franchise's appealing elements - second rank casting (Statham very much worth watching), quirky French humour courtesy of François Berléand, and a very European disregard for taste or restraint - are here dangerously vitiated by absurd plotting and flukey stunt work that tops even the Bond equivalents (yes, you can survive a plane crash simply by jumping up in the air on impact).
