Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002)
Country: US
Technical: Foto-Kem/Super 35 94m
Director: Jay Roach
Cast: Mike Myers, Michael Caine, Beyoncé Knowles, Seth Green, Michael York, Robert Wagner
Synopsis:
Dr Evil attempts one last dastardly scheme and kidnaps Austin Powers's Dad to ensure he does not interfere.
Review:
More witless Bond spoofery, where the witlessness is so much the selling point that criticism is disarmed from the outset. The star's clowning occasionally raises a smile for its preposterous archness, but the gross-out humour just reminds one of how much growing up American society has still to do. (The 007-style pre-credit and title sequence are by far the best things about this movie, so do yourself a favour and switch off thereafter.)
