Body Double (1984)
Country: US
Technical: col 114m
Director: Brian de Palma
Cast: Craig Wasson, Gregg Henry, Melanie Griffith
Synopsis:
An actor with voyeuristic tendencies loses his job through claustrophobia and becomes a pawn in an acquaintance's plot to kill his estranged wife.
Review:
Somewhat depraved riff on Vertigo and Rear Window by a director whose Hitchcockophilia was by this time becoming tiresomely familiar. More beautiful women falling helpless victims to male violence; more impeccably shot (better than the master) suspense sequences whose textbook pedanticism saps them of any emotive power.
