Boiling Point (2021)
Country: GB
Technical: col/2.35:1 92m
Director: Philip Barantini
Cast: Stephen Graham, Vinette Robinson, Alice Feetham, Jason Flemyng
Synopsis:
The chef of a successful restaurant is losing his grip between the demands of work and home life, while grappling with a drink and drugs problem. During the course of one Friday night we see him and his staff deal with difficult customers, a truncated menu, a table of social media influencers, TV food critics and a customer with a nut allergy.
Review:
The piling on of calamities is almost too much to believe, as is the quantity of screaming in the back kitchen, but then this is an inherently theatrical venture, shot in one continuous take, and the cast rises to the challenge admirably. If nothing else, it opens one's eyes as to the pressures, and egos, endemic in the food business.
