Bridget Jones's Diary (2001)

£0.00

Country: US/FR/GB
Technical: Technicolor 97m
Director: Sharon Maguire
Cast: Renée Zellweger, Colin Firth, Hugh Grant, Jim Broadbent, Gemma Jones

Synopsis:

Thirty-plus single girl Bridget Jones resolves to keep a diary charting her quest for that special man. Providing she can recognise him when she sees him, that is.

Review:

This entertaining adaptation of a popular Adrian Mole-style zeitgeist novel omits much of the Chardonnay and self-help book references and settles down to being a vehicle for Zellweger's wonderfully versatile features and comic talent. Meanwhile Grant and Firth gamely parody their public and screen personae respectively. Great fun, though the plot is nothing less than updated Austen.
