Broadway Danny Rose (1984)
Country: US
Technical: bw 84m
Director: Woody Allen
Cast: Woody Allen, Mia Farrow, Nick Apollo Forte
Synopsis:
A old time agent who stood by his acts, however uncommercial, has a chance for the big time within his grasp when he turns an indifferent crooner into an Italian sensation.
Review:
Allen's most charmingly easygoing entertainment is full of nostalgia for a certain type of showbiz, as his soundtracks have often reminded us. There are choice moments with his acts, a nicely chosen set of bookends in which other agents reminisce and tell Danny Rose stories, and a perfect foil of a performance in Farrow's unrecognisably deadpan mafia moll.
