The Bachelor Party (1957)
Country: US
Technical: bw 93m
Director: Delbert Mann
Cast: Don Murray, E. G. Marshall, Jack Warden
Synopsis:
Five office colleagues go for a stag night on the town, and alcohol starts to loosen their work inhibitions.
Review:
One of a pair of classy 'kitchen sink' dramas written and adapted by Paddy Chayevsky and directed by Mann (the other was Marty). It's a solidly crafted piece of writing, with well developed characters the cast appear to relish, and it says a lot about living in contemporary America in a way few films did at the time. A pity it did not last: four years later Mann was directing Doris Day sex comedies.
