The Black Pirate (1926)
Country: US
Technical: col 76m (24fps)
Director: Albert Parker
Cast: Douglas Fairbanks, Billie Dove, Donald Crisp
Synopsis:
Infiltrating a gang of pirates to avenge himself on his father's murderers, the young Duke of Arnoldo falls in love with a captive princess.
Review:
Good-looking yarn, with a rare element of fantasy, helped by the early colour. The Governor, the Princess, the Duke we don't know who they are or where they come from, and nearly all the action takes place in this little bay of what we presume is an island. Crisp plays the Scottish friend (the accent is in the intertitles); the action is studiobound but never dull.
