The Brother from Another Planet (1984)
Country: US
Technical: col 108m
Director: John Sayles
Cast: Joe Morton, Tom Wright, Caroline Aaron
Synopsis:
A black extra-terrestrial lands in Harlem pursued by two galactic bounty hunters.
Review:
The protagonist's dumbness makes for some amusing scenes but places a limitation on the script's possibilities. Special effects are happily kept to a minimum, but the low budget does not otherwise show. Social comment extends to the youth drug problem and just escapes earnestness. (However cf. "My Stepmother is an Alien" for the far worse alternative.)
