Cabaret (1972)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col 123m
Director: Bob Fosse
Cast: Liza Minnelli, Michael York, Marisa Berenson, Joel Grey

Synopsis:

A British student in Berlin in the 30s meets a happy go lucky American artiste and is drawn into her circle of friends. Meanwhile, behind the decadent world of her Kit Kat Klub the tide of fascism is on the rise.

Review:

Based on Christopher Isherwood's stories/memoirs, Fosse's film manages to be so much more than a musical entertainment. While the set pieces at the club are undoubtedly the backbone of the movie, they act as a Greek chorus commenting on the passage from Weimar decadence to something far worse.
