Capturing the Friedmans (2003)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col 108m
Director: Andrew Jarecki
Cast: doc.

Synopsis:

The lives of a Long Island family - father, mother and three sons - is left in tatters when the repressed paedophile father (who teaches computer studies at home) and his youngest son are arrested and ultimately confess to scores of counts of child abuse.

Review:

The film casts a critical eye over these facts by combining expert testimony with documentary footage and a large quantity of home movie material taken before and in the eye of the storm, all of which has the effect of inducing more than a reasonable doubt in the mind of the viewer that the events described constitute nothing more than yet another good old American witch hunt. At the same time, an ordinary, functioning family this ain't.
