Carry on Nurse (1959)
Country: GB
Technical: bw 86m
Director: Gerald Thomas
Cast: Terence Longdon, Shirley Eaton, Kenneth Williams, Charles Hawtrey, Joan Sims, Kenneth Connor, Hattie Jacques, Leslie Phillips, Wilfrid Hyde-White
Synopsis:
An injured boxer, a scaffolder with a broken leg, and a lecherous entrepreneur with a bunion are among the patients in a hospital ward, ministered to by a bevy of attractive nurses and watched over by a martinet of a matron.
Review:
Early 'Carry On' in pin-sharp black and white, and with a smattering of serious actors before the babes took over the nursery; Kenneth Williams even has an entanglement with an attractively nubile female, and Joan Sims plays it straight, though Hawtrey does get to dress up as a nurse for the patients' alcohol-fuelled DIY operation on Phillips.
