Changeling (2008)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: Technicolor/Panavision 142m
Director: Clint Eastwood
Cast: Angelina Jolie, John Malkovich, Jeffrey Donovan

Synopsis:

In the late 1920s an L.A. telephonist's son goes missing and initial insensitivity on the part of the police turns sinister when they attempt to press upon her another child in place of her own. With whatever hunt there had been for her son looking set to be called off, the mother turns in desperation to a politically trenchant church leader for help.

Review:

Scandalously true story that joins the ranks of Chinatown, L.A. Confidential and The Black Dahlia in exposing the Los Angeles police department for the sesspool it clearly was at one point. Superbly acted and sensitively directed in the now familiar classically unobtrusive manner of this director, who has some record in filming stories featuring children - and child murderers.
