City Hall (1996)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col 111m
Director: Harold Becker
Cast: Al Pacino, John Cusack, Bridget Fonda, Danny Aiello, Martin Landau

Synopsis:

The deputy mayor of New York investigates the background to an unfortunate shooting in which a child of six died as well as a cop and a drug-dealer. He discovers that the corruption goes a lot further than the judge who gave the dealer probation.

Review:

Despite its trappings this is less a conspiracy thriller than a piece of Realpolitik by which dubious deals and favours become inexorably interlinked with the running of a city. Fascinating detail and hard to follow with it, but little that is dramatically satisfying besides Pacino's performance.
