The Cocoanuts (1929)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: bw 96m
Director: Robert Florey, Joseph Santley
Cast: The Four Marx Brothers, Margaret Dumont, Mary Eaton

Synopsis:

Groucho plays a hotelier trying to stay open by selling real estate and making love to Margaret Dumont. Meanwhile Harpo and Chico foil his and anybody else's nefarious plans and Zeppo romances the ingénue.

Review:

The Brothers' first movie at Paramount, or anywhere else for that matter, lays down a template they would follow for the next decade or so, and is none the worse for that. The timing is on the primitive side owing to the early sound, but it is good to see everyone so sprightly.
