The Company You Keep (2012)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col/2.35:1 125m
Director: Robert Redford
Cast: Robert Redford, Shia LaBeouf, Julie Christie, Susan Sarandon, Brendan Gleeson, Chris Cooper, Sam Elliott, Richard Jenkins, Nick Nolte

Synopsis:

A woman's arrest by the FBI for her involvement in a violent protest movement during the Vietnam War spells upset for a smalltown New York state lawyer and his eleven year-old daughter, particularly when a local journalist connects him with the case.

Review:

A plot in which the events of forty years ago are all-important, prompts a cast list that feels like a high school reunion, and that is part of the problem with this rather flat thriller. One can see the project's appeal for the director/star - a throwback to the heyday of the political thriller, Three Days of the Condor and all - but the story is just too short on surprises, the least of which being the revelation that our Bob was not involved in the fatal robbery, and there just isn't a single scene that zings.
