A Dirty Shame (2004)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: Technicolor 89m
Director: John Waters
Cast: Tracey Ullman, Johnny Knoxville, Selma Blair, Chris Isaak, Patricia Hearst

Synopsis:

The denizens of a Baltimore neighbourhood are scandalized, but gradually won over, by a rash of licentious behaviour which is triggered by accidental concussion.

Review:

What we have here is another of Waters's anarchic forces let loose on a community; in this case sex addiction is unleashed on a prudish America rather in the manner of one of those rock'n'roll teen flicks of the fifties. He rather overdoes the central conceit about blows to the head, allowing him to have his cake several times over, and he runs the gamut of every sexual fetish and aberration while employing refreshingly obscene imagery. The result was that he was denied an R rating in the US. (My personal favourite was the woman who delights in covering her breasts with food and drink.)
