Deja Vu (2006)

£0.00

Country: US/GB
Technical: col/2.35:1 126m
Director: Tony Scott
Cast: Denzel Washington, Paula Patton, Val Kilmer, Jim Caviezel, Adam Goldberg, Bruce Greenwood

Synopsis:

An ATF agent investigating an act of terrorism involving a Mississippi ferry gets taken up with the fate of a beautiful young woman found washed up downstream but killed hours before. Evidence in her apartment, furthermore, and on his voicemail points to a link between them. Then the FBI shows him their unique 'reverse surveillance' system and he becomes obsessed with the idea of altering her fate...

Review:

Preposterous crime thriller with elements of science fiction, but an engaging lead performance nudges its audience into accepting its wish-fulfilment outcomes while overlooking the ways in which it wantonly breaks the rules of time travel drama. Scott contributes a highly edited, octane-driven mise-en-scène, with the ability to make even blood-stained cotton wool in a waste basket photogenic, but at least the characters are recognisable human beings.
