Die Another Day (2002)

£0.00

Country: GB/US
Technical: DeLuxe/Panavision 133m
Director: Lee Tamahori
Cast: Pierce Brosnan, Halle Berry, Toby Stephens, Rosamund Pike

Synopsis:

Bond falls foul of a traitor while on a mission in North Korea and is traded for a renegade Korean officer; held by the Allies under suspicion he escapes and pursues his enemy until he unearths a plot involving DNA transplants and laundered conflict diamonds.

Review:

The fortieth anniversary adventure makes nods to Bond movies past, not least Diamonds Are Forever, but is above all a typically testosterone-fuelled Brosnan outing with the accent on spectacular shootups and running like crazy. The first hour is a relatively old-fashioned and sensible cold war thriller; then the sets and gadgets take over, though the relationship with the female NSA agent keeps the interest. All in all a worthy addition to the seemingly inexhaustible, and increasingly exhausting, series.
