Cashing in on the zeitgeist set by films like Vanishing Point and Two-Lane Blacktop, as well as the marketability of the game Miss George, Fox mounted this little chase movie which, in turn, led to Smokey and the Bandit and a whole decade of boringly edited car chases. At least this one had a downbeat ending.
