Doctor Jack (1922)
(Dr. Jack)
Country: US
Technical: bw 72m (24fps)
Director: Fred Newmeyer
Cast: Harold Lloyd, Mildred Davis, John T. Prince
Synopsis:
A charlatan and his lucrative sanatorium for the 'not really very sick at all' are discredited by the arrival of country doctor 'Jack' Jackson, who proceeds to cure one of its pre-eminent inmates.
Review:
The star's third feature exploits his bookish, dare one say nebbish, air by casting him as a country (i.e. honest) doctor in contrast with the wicked venality of the city types. There are sequences that shine here, but one cannot help feeling it could all have been over in two reels.
