Double Dynamite (1951)
Country: US
Technical: bw 80m
Director: Irving Cummings
Cast: Frank Sinatra, Jane Russell, Groucho Marx
Synopsis:
Two poorly paid employees of California's 'friendliest' bank cannot afford to get married, until, that is, he comes to the rescue of a notorious bookie and makes a killing on the horses. The only trouble is, the bank picks up a shortage for a similar amount at the same time, and the teller has to rely on his fast-talking waiter friend to cover for him.
Review:
Barely serviceable RKO comedy, famously taking three years to get a release owing to Howard Hughes's over-fussy involvement, not least its lewd retitling from It's Only Money in honour of its 'well-distributed' leading lady. The plot concerning embezzled money is inadequately resolved, and the two songs seem to come from another movie. The same might be observed of Groucho's presence, but that would be churlish as his are the only funny lines on offer.
