Down and Out in Beverly Hills (1986)
Country: US
Technical: col 97m
Director: Paul Mazursky
Cast: Nick Nolte, Bette Midler, Richard Dreyfuss
Synopsis:
A Beverly Hills tramp almost drowns in a man's swimming pool, so he takes him in but lives to regret it.
Review:
One in a string of remakes of French films at the time, though from a more distant and auspicious source than usual: Boudu sauvé des eaux. Performances please, including probably the best ever by a dog, but the sense of narrative is not strong enough and the laughs too infrequent to let you forget the fact.
