Director: Marcel Carné
Cast: Françoise Rosay, Michel Simon, Louis Jouvet, Jean-Louis Barrault, Jean-Pierre Aumont

Synopsis:

A botanist who writes gruesome detective fiction under a pseudonym arouses the suspicions of his cousin, the bishop of Bedford, that he has murdered his wife. Scotland Yard is involved and the hapless husband and wife, forced into hiding in the East End, make the acquaintance of the notorious Butcher Killer. Meanwhile the botanist's muse, and housemaid, hides out in the family home and fields the attentions of the amorous milkman.

Review:

Theatrical farce with simply too many plot threads and too few laughs, though it does immortalize some fine performers in their prime.
