The Da Vinci Code (2006)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: DeLuxe/Super 35 149m
Director: Ron Howard
Cast: Tom Hanks, Audrey Tautou, Ian McKellen, Alfred Molina, Paul Bettany, Jean Réno

Synopsis:

A professor of semiology on a visit to Paris is contacted by an old colleague of the church who is actually a member of a Templar brotherhood sworn to protect a secret capable of shaking the Roman catholic church to its foundations.

Review:

Based on a bestselling airport paperback, this extraordinary film to come from Ron Howard, unless he thought he was on some kind of crusade, is like a cross between Indiana Jones and Umberto Eco. It's thrill a minute stuff, punctuated by learned and extravagantly illustrated disquisitions on the history behind the intrigue, and peopled by characters who are manipulated in some way or other, or are not what they seem, but have little depth beyond what the actors bring to their roles.
