Review:
Tortuous, intriguingly premised psychological romantic comedy which could have been played for nightmare, like Seconds, but instead gets the Adaptation treatment befitting screenwriter Kaufman. It has a flashback structure which one more or less guesses halfway through, and packs in a subplot involving the amours of the team undertaking the treatment, showing that entrusting one's mind to such people is never advisable. When the two plots converge towards the end, and the partners receive their audio tapes through the post, the film reaches its comedic and emotional high point wherein, despite knowing the worst about each other, they opt to start the relationship all over again.
