Evil Dead II (1987)
Country: US
Technical: col 85m
Director: Sam Raimi
Cast: Bruce Campbell, Sarah Berry
Synopsis:
The lone survivor from The Evil Dead continues to do battle with the forces of darkness.
Review:
Gleeful post-modern exercise in fantasy film quotation (Ray Harryhausen, Poltergeist, Time Bandits, The Terminator): faster to get started, and filling in some of the background information from before, it is little more than a remaking of scenes from the first film with the means of a bigger budget at Raimi's disposal. In one scene the foley artist is apparently given free rein and we are treated to a range of crunches and crashes which the editor dutifully follows; very funny, if you're childish enough for this kind of thing.
