Farewell My Lovely (1975)
Country: US
Technical: col 95m
Director: Dick Richards
Cast: Robert Mitchum, Charlotte Rampling, John Ireland, Sylvia Miles
Synopsis:
Philip Marlowe is hired by an ex-con to locate his girlfriend Velma, a former nightclub hostess.
Review:
The best of the Marlowe revivals of the Seventies. Permissiveness does justice to the sordid aspects but the film doesn't succumb to pretentiousness or lose its narrative grip. The Chandler similes are slightly below par, however, and it is more languid than its gritty predecessor.
