Firecreek (1968)
Country: US
Technical: col/scope 104m
Director: Vincent McEveety
Cast: James Stewart, Henry Fonda, Inger Stevens
Synopsis:
A pacifist sheriff is forced to get tough when a gang of outlaws tries to take over his town.
Review:
An old man's western, with Fonda playing the flipside of his character in The Tin Star, while Stewart is Destry Rides Again (again). The theme fitted the times (Vietnam, Selma) but it misses a High Noon-style opportunity for thoughtful dialogue, while its cast is wasted in melodramatic characterizations.
