Forbidden Planet (1956)
Country: US
Technical: col/scope 98m
Director: Fred M. Wilcox
Cast: Walter Pidgeon, Anne Francis, Leslie Nielsen
Synopsis:
The survivors of a spacecraft crashlanding on a distant planet discover mysterious forces and a father and daughter who appear to control them.
Review:
Shakespeare's The Tempest translated brilliantly to Science Fiction; Robby the robot is a bit twee now but the scenes in which Morbeus's Id goes on the rampage are memorably frightening, and the MGM production is first-rate for a science-fiction film of the time, with lavish art direction and colour.
