From Russia with Love (1963)
Country: GB
Technical: col 118m
Director: Terence Young
Cast: Sean Connery, Robert Shaw, Pedor Armendariz, Daniela Bianchi
Synopsis:
Bond sets out for Istanbul to recover a stolen piece of equipment, meeting, and turning, an employee of the Soviet secret service.
Review:
007's second outing is a more or less traditional thriller, with a worthy Russian adversary and stock situations such as those aboard the Orient Express and at a gypsy encampment. All the better for this, of course, since the peculiar gloss of the series is all that is required to transform such ingredients into something new.
