£0.00

Country: US/GB/GER
Technical: Technicolor/Super 35 161m
Director: Chris Columbus
Cast: Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Kenneth Branagh, John Cleese, Robbie Coltrane, Richard Griffiths, Richard Harris, Alan Rickman, Maggie Smith, Julie Walters, Gemma Jones, Miriam Margolyes

Synopsis:

Harry is warned not to return to school by an elf, but goes anyway and finds himself and his friends under threat from the spirit of Voldemort held within the pages of a school diary.

Review:

Worthy sequel, which introduces an entertaining new member of staff in the shape of Branagh's cowardly braggart, that and a flying car that provides the author with an outrageous deus in the action later on. As in the first film there is a great deal of padding, no doubt adding depth to future engagements, and the cast is already aging visibly; indeed Harris's incomparable Dumbledore was alas doomed not to grace the inevitable sequels. This is superior children's entertainment, nevertheless, in the context of the series as a whole, which constitutes a roll call of British acting talent.
