Like the writer-director's House of Games this characteristically cool thriller delivers satisfaction through its display of smart movers getting the upper hand on their inferiors in every sense. At no point does the screenplay focus on the victims of their crimes, and the relationships between partners are only lightly sketched. However, there are one or two sequences of minutely detailed operation in the best caper tradition.
