Histoire d'O (1975)
(The Story of O)
Country: FR/GER
Technical: col 105m
Director: Just Jaeckin
Cast: Corinne Clery, Udo Kier, Anthony Steel
Synopsis:
A fashion photographer accedes to her lover's every humiliation of her in his bid to make her his possession; then he passes her on to his roué of a stepbrother, Sir Stephen, who brands her as his own.
Review:
This was about as tasteful as porn got in those few years of détente during the 70s - or as extreme as soft-focus erotica became, depending on one's stance. It's as preposterously serious about itself as Emmanuelle was, but at least it is more radical, taking the gang rape of that film as a starting point in its investigation of female masochism. A lot more whipping goes on than sex, though.
