Indomptable Angélique (1967)

(Untamable Angelique)

Country: FR/GER/IT
Technical: Eastmancolor/2.35:1 85m
Director: Bernard Borderie
Cast: Michèle Mercier, Robert Hossein, Roger Pigaut

Synopsis:

Taking to the seas in search of her errant husband, Angélique is picked up by a royal galley, captured by a corsair, and sold as a slave.

Review:

This fourth instalment in the amorous adventures of the indomitable woman of the people, determined to be reunited with her outlaw husband, is a slighter, more cheaply cast affair. In its favour, it is less haphazardly plotted, preferring a straightforward 'frying-pan-to-fire' series of misadventures, and pacier for it. There is a slight increase in gratuitous nudity and sadism, with a breast inadvertently exposed during an attempted gang rape scene. But they left it in anyway; oh, those French!
